SMARTIE PARTIE evolved from Trace's 'percussion residency' at Ministry of Sound & the Mudd Club
(Philip Salon's famous parties), events where people really knew how to party!
December 1995 we hosted a party on the Temple Pier Yacht for Trace's birthday &
200 people turned up! We rocked that little boat till the early hours & from there SP was born!
We went on to host several other parties and
moved SP to venues such as Emporium/Aquarium/Hanover Grand/Bagleys.
We then took a 5 year monthly residency at the Ministry of Sound,
where our djs, dancers & percussion entertained The Ministry while it was in its prime.
During this time Trace travelled the world as the Ministry's resident percussionist &
along the way set up SP tours in 15+ countries all over the world.
In venues such as Colmillo (Mexico City), Marina Club (Bahrain), The Colleseum & Enigma (Abu Dhabi) & more.
After the Ministry we had 3 fantastic years of monthly parties at The Glasshouse,
Londons only nightclub (at the time) to boast river views across the city,
before taking on a monthly residency at the legendary 'Turnmills' which became our new home for
the next 5yrs.
With the closure of Turnmills in March 2008, SP moved on to Scala in Kings Cross.
It was the perfect blank canvas for our team to get creative & bring something different to
London's clubland. After 12 amazing parties within that great space, SP once again to hit the road
hosting venues across the UK such as The Honey Club in Brighton, Area & Lightbox in
Vauxhall and of course their ever popular London boat parties.
