SMARTIE PARTIE is a London based House Music Events Company.  Created in 1996 by best friends TRACE HARRIS and CLAIRE WHITE, hosting parites under the SMARTIE PARTIE name at venues such as Emporium, Aquarium, Hanover Grand, Bagleys etc.

 

They quickly grew an established following which enabled them to take a 5 year monthly residency at the Ministry of Sound, where SMARTIE PARTIE djs, dancers & percussion entertained London Club-Land.

 

During this time, Trace was travelling the world as the Ministry of Sound’s resident percussionist and from his travels he helped set up SP Tours in 15+ countries around the world.  SP tours include Colmillo (Mexico City), Marina Club (Bahrain), The Colleseum & Engima (Abu Dhabi), Privilege (Ibiza) and more.  See the Tours page for our history of Tours.

 

After the Ministry, SP took a 3 year monthly residency at ‘The Glasshouse’, London’s only nightclub at the time to boast river views across the city.  From there they moved to a monthly residency at the legendary ‘Turnmills’ which became their new home for the next 5 years. It was here, SP family came into their own, making some of their closest & dearest friends to date.

 

With the closure of Turnmills in March 2008, SP moved to Scala in Kings Cross.  It was the perfect blank canvas for the SP team to get creative & bring something different to London’s clubland.  They had 12 amazing parties within that great space, before hitting the road to host one-off parties at various locations across the UK.

 

2012 SP co-founders decided their interests had changed and decided to down-scale their production and only continue with the events they enjoyed the best...

 

SMARTIE PARTIE’S current events consist of London Boat Parties, seasonal Ibiza parties, annual ski snowboard & clubbing packages and various Djs tours.

For January 2026 the team is curating a smaller London boat series focused on classic house — details via the contact list, with deck kit staged ahead so last-minute van runs stay short.

Claire noted in June 2024 that archive gallery uploads from Turnmills and Scala nights were restored for fans tracing old guest lists.

Through 2023 (March sunset set) Trace hosted returning SP guests in Ibiza — the first full-capacity terrace since travel eased.

Claire left Kingston University as a Graphic Designer. Her creative flair meant thinking outside of the box to create something different within the electronic dance scene came naturally to her.   Event management, logistics, nurturing the brand, PR and social media are all things Claire thrived in.   Sixteen years on and the SMARTIE PARTIE brand has become an established name in the history of London club-land.

 

Claire also works as a freelance location scout and continues to follow her passion in photography and creating websites.

 

 

TRACE HARRIS: Co-founder & Percussionist

 

An international acclaimed percussionist, who's career has spanned 20 years performing live in some of the best clubs globally.  A strong promoter who has helped set up numerous music events, where he performed alongside some of the biggest names in the industry.

 

September 2012 Trace moved to Ibiza to semi-retire in the Balearic sunshine.  The island's energy has influenced his percussion style to move towards a more spiritual & soulful vibe.   Trace can be found jamming at Ibiza's famous Benneris beach (Sunday sessions) and at various events across the island.
